Preliminary Question: Why Technology in the Classroom?
Short answer:
Because we need to help prepare students for a successful journey into careers in the 21st century.
Long answer:
Many teachers feel that technology is a wonderful tool, but they do not have time to use it. Or, that it is a crutch for students, replacing the need for students to learn or think for themselves.
Many teachers feel that the students know much more than they do when it comes to technology. The best way to overcome this perceived disadvantage is to keep up!
Many of the technologies that are offered to our students need to be used frequently in our classrooms in order to hone 21st century skills such as information technology literacy, using electronic presentation and communication tools, etc.
The use of technology in the classroom is a gateway, giving way to such career technologies as those used by radiologists, engineers, and, yes, artists, architects and city planners. (1)
